connect

The aim of the Connect team is to deal with complex issues arising from vulnerable delegates who arrive on site with ongoing complex problems, and for delegates who respond in meetings and times of ministry, managing their issues in a confidential, caring and professional manner. If necessary, to refer delegates on to appropriate local services.

There are number of key responsibilities including dealing with all issues of child protection and abuse that comes to light at any stage during the course of the events. In doing so follow the Child Protection procedures of Soul Survivor. They’re also responsible for talking with any delegates wanting to chat things through in more depth than is appropriate within a normal ministry time period.

The Welfare team have to not only form good relationships with these delegates but also establish a good working relationship with the Enabling Coordinators, Fringe team, Site Manager, First Aid Team and Police Advisors, to be ready to give advice to other Soul Survivor team leaders, delegates and youth leaders, on the matters of Child Protection and Abuse

Our Welfare team is led by established team leaders and all the team members are fully supported by them and Soul Survivor at all times!

You will have to supply your own accommodation but in return for your hard work you will get a free place at the event and all your meals (beginning on the evening day 1 – to the evening of day 5) – what more could you want!

how old do i have to be?

The minimum age is 21.

what will my days look like?

This is a 24hr team. You will be on a shift pattern which you will receive closer to the time but although sometimes you won’t be on shift, you may be on ‘call’ which means you may be interrupted in the middle of the night. The welfare team spend their time responding to situations all over site which also means a fair bit of walking!

when will i need to be on site?

Day 1 to the morning of Day 6. There’s a welfare team meeting on Day 1 which you MUST attend. The time for this meeting will be confirmed closer to the summer.

do i need anything extra to be on this team?

Welfare Team members should be experienced, professional, and confidential in dealing with complex and difficult situationsin a sensitive way and to produce documentation etc. Ideally in a profession such as Social Work or counselling/psychology.

You will also be required to complete a Soul Survivor CRB (unless you hold one with Soul Survivor that is less than 3 years old at the time of the event). A pack will be sent to you when you apply.
