catering

The Catering team are a vital part of the inner workings of our site. We literally couldn’t do without this team and the hard work, energy and enthusiasm they bring!

You’ll provide essential energy to everyone from Stewards to IT technicians to worship leaders. Without this, nothing else would get started, so you’ll have our love and gratitude! You’ll be working in the background, meeting all of our teams and serving them while they serve our delegates. Hopefully you’ll have fun, see a whole new side of the events, and go home with the knowledge that every good thing God did on site happened in part because of your hard work!

You’ll be responsible for food preparation, serving meals and washing dishes so this is a role for the really servant-hearted, but it’s also a big team with a great atmosphere and really caring team leaders. You’ll work with loads of amazing people and because everyone’s working hard, there’s a great sense of community and you’ll get to know everyone even if you come to the event on your own.

You don’t need to have done any cooking before, as long as you’re happy following instructions and learning as you go along. We promise you won’t be given jobs that are out of your depth, like cooking 200 people roast dinner on your own! You’ll work around 8 hours a day but still have time off to enjoy the meetings and seminars, you’ll have a chaplain who meets with the team to pray with you and you’ll have the opportunity to see loads of young people getting committed to following Jesus!

You will have to supply your own accommodation but in return for your hard work you will get a free place at the event and all your meals (beginning the morning of day 1 – to the evening of Day 5) – what more could you want!

how old do i have to be?

This is one of the few teams you can do before you’re 18, but you need to be 16 or over!

what will my days look like?

There are different shifts (Breakfast, Hot Meals, Cold Meals and Support) which are staggered so you won’t have to do the same thing every day. Breakfast shifts start at 6.45am but you won’t always get this shift. Support will be simple preparing jobs and clearing away after meals while the other shifts do the kitchen work. The last shift finishes at 7pm so everyone will get to at least one main meeting a day, and most will get to both meetings, or a seminar or two, every day.

when will i need to be on site?

You’ll need to be on site and ready to start work in time for the first meeting at 7pm on Day 0. (That means the day before your chosen event starts.) The Week B team to be there from 7 August (day -1).

do i need anything extra to be on this team?

You’ll need a bit of common sense when it comes to health and safety!
