the villages...

The camp site is divided into coloured areas, and each area is broken down in to numbered ‘villages’. Most villages have between 50 and 100 people staying on them, though some can house as many as 200 people. Each village is looked after by a ‘Village Host’. Villages are allocated by geography – i.e. groups from Manchester will most likely all be camped near each other.

under 18's

Under-18s are automatically allocated to the same camping village as their Group Leader or Responsible Adult. Remember you must have at least one over 18 for every six under 18's that you bring. Please also note that Soul Survivor site rules state that members of the opposite sex cannot share a tent unless they are married.

the curfew village

There is a curfew village at the edge of the site and people camping on this village are asked to be quiet between 10.30pm and 7am. There is no curfew for the rest of the site but Group Leaders are advised to encourage their young people to be back on their village by 12.30 and quiet by 1am. Stewards patrol the site, but less people running around the better!

sanitation

The tent villages are furnished with adequate sanitation and are made to comply with Fire safety standards. This includes providing hot showers, clean toilets and drinking water for each village. Some facilties are better than others, and depending on your preferred shower time, you may have to queue... a luxurious bubble bath isn't likely to happen.

site facilities

The site is an agricultural showground, and although we work hard at improving it for you, it cannot provide all the facilities of a deluxe campsite.  Bottled gas is available on site, but please note there are no electric hook-up points for caravans, or sockets for hair dryers or car batteries. The closest launderette is on Weston Road (a 15-20min walk, which doesn't always have a path, so be careful - thanks to Tom Foster from Stafford Uni for the tip!). The Stafford Showground also run a nice little shop so you can get lots of bits including some very nice warm pies and the odd ice cream too.

cashpoints, post offices and mobiles!

There are branches of most High Street banks in Stafford town centre about 3 miles from the Showground, where cash points are available.  A Post Office is also available in the town centre.

There is a stand in the Tool Shed where you can also securely charge a mobile phone/camera/ipodfor free (though we don’t advise bringing valuable electrical equipment to site).
