6. what will you eat?

If you've never been before you may be wondering 'what will I eat during my time at Soul Survivor?'

Well, have no fear, you will eat food... but it's up to you whether you want to rough it bush tucker style or go a bit posher and have various people and restaurants cook for you!

cooking on a camping stove...

A camping trip offers all kinds of 'back to nature' type challenges, the most vital of which involves keeping hunger at bay. If you're coming to Soul Survivor you'll probably be cooking on a camping stove and we thought it'd be nice to help those who are struggling for bush tucker recipes get some ideas!
Check the recipes over at this site...

the food court...

Broken the camping stove or looking for a change from plain old pasta every night? Check out the sumptuous cuisine on offer at the cafés and food vans we've set up around site! The food court hosts vans with a wide range of options including tasty sandwiches, filled jacket potatoes, Mexican dishes, and that Soul Survivor perennial favourite: hot, fresh doughnuts.

Unfortunately Week A at the Stafford Shwoground has a few less food vans than our events that are based at the Bath & West Showground.

how much will it cost?

If you plan on eating just from the food court vendors you will want to budget between £10 and £15 a day - depending on your appetite. They serve all sorts of stuff, but most of it isn't too healthy! The vendors and their prices are contracted by the Stafford and Royal Bath and West Showgrounds and not Soul Survivor, so unfortunately we can't do anything about the cost (sorry).

the shop...

At both Week A in Stafford and Weeks B&C in Shepton Mallet a shop sells basic items, toiletries, batteries and confectionary amongst other things. For all those sensible, organised and capable enough to cook on a camping stove there are gas cylinders and freezer packs available onsite too.

Shops local to the Stafford Showground...

A big old Asda has made a nest in Stafford, just a few minutes drive from site. They also have a cash point. To get there just turn left out of the main gate and follow the signs to Stafford and before you know it, you’ll see the mega smegga mart appear before you.

Shops local to the Bath & West Showground...

Tesco, (with the nearest cash point) , is a short drive from the showground in Shepton Mallet, though this isn't within easy walking distance.

Both Tesco and Asda will deliver products to the showgrounds, but orders must be pre arranged and collected from the delivery man at the main gate at the agreed time.

fancy a dinner out somewhere?

Pub lunches, the local Indian and other restaurants may provide a nice break from site in the nearby villages...

Restaurants local to the Stafford Showground...

Apparently there is a pretty good all you can eat Chinese Buffet located near to the Premier Inn just a few minutes drive from the Showground. The Premier Inn is also the place to find a cosy Beefeater Pub to have a nice meal or just relaxing drink.

Restaurants local to the Bath & West Showground...
The Natterjack, just a few minutes drive away from the Showground towards Castle Cary, is always a very good option, whereas the Priestleigh Inn, at the top of the hill towards Shepton Mallet is also a nice and friendly food serving establishment!
