Editorial...

We’re gutted in the office today. There’s no way we can hide it, the pain cuts too deep. Yep, as I write, it’s been less than 24 hours since our defeat to Germany in the World Cup. So that’s it; we’re out.

We’re left to wonder what could have been had the ref seen what we all saw or had goal line technology been introduced. We’re left with a thousand questions about why so much potential came to so little. We’re left with another four years to lick our wounds and gear up to go through the whole hope/disappointment cycle that is so familiar to England fans the country over.

But! Despite our despair and misery we can see a glimmer of hope. Sadly not on the football pitch but to be fair, it’s something even better!

It’s now officially July which means our summer events kick off this month! I’m not saying Soul Survivor is the bright spot on the horizon, but the reason for them is. We have an awesome God and for us summer means worshipping him and meeting with him with thousands of you – what could be better than that?!

We love it when we all get together because we’re always blown away by God’s love and grace, by his presence amongst us, by the amazing things he says and does. He is our hope and he is the only one who will never let us down or leave us hanging our heads in disappointment.

And just to prove we haven’t given up on life, we’ve gone and put together a cracking imag this month to see you through July! We had a chat with the brilliant Lex Buckley about her new book and what else she’s been up to plus we’re really excited to introduce a new writer to you – his name is Daniel, he’s 16 and he’s got some great thoughts about prayer. Plus there’s the next part in Chris Russell’s series on Daniel, Mike P gets to grips with generosity and our good friend Emily explores the issue of homelessness!

Hopefully we’ll see you in Stafford on the 30th July or catch you at Weeks B, C or Momentum in August!
